For the welcome party, feel free to dress casually. For the wedding, please wear Black Tie Optional. Have fun with color!
The ceremony will be outdoors and the reception will be indoors. Weather in the Rocky Mountains can be unpredictable, so we have alternative options pending bad weather. Late August in Vail is warm during the day and cool at night — we recommend bringing a light layer for the evenings.
Although we love kids, we've decided to keep our wedding an adults-only event so everyone can relax and celebrate together (Rachel likes music with occasional bad words). If you're traveling with little ones, we'd be happy to provide recommendations for vetted babysitters in the Vail area — just reach out to us!
Vail sits at about 8,000 feet above sea level. At this elevation, the air is thinner, and some may feel the effects of altitude. To help your body adjust, we recommend drinking plenty of water, taking it easy on alcohol your first day, and keeping oxygen cans on hand (they’re available at most local markets and hotels). Many spas around Vail also have oxygen bars for those needing a little extra boost.
We will provide transportation from Vail Village to the ceremony and reception locations throughout the evening. Details will be provided closer to the date.
The white wedding dress tradition started in the 18th century when Queen Victoria wore a white gown for her wedding to Prince Albert. Blake and Rachel will likely perfect this tradition.
