Our Story
Blake and Rachel’s relationship began at a Washington DC tea house in October 2019 after Blake’s multiple attempts on Hinge to get Rachel to agree to a date (excuses such as “lost purse” were thrown around a few times). Despite the red flag(s) of Blake showing up on a bike and in a suit, a combination of shared interest in public service, mutual friends, and Blake's boyish charm gave Rachel the confidence to continue with fanning the spark of their early relationship.
The relationship blossomed throughout the COVID pandemic quarantine, which Blake refers to as a “pressure cooker”, where they had nothing to do but get to know each other and explore the empty streets of DC. Blake invited Rachel to come live in Bozeman, Montana with a group of his college friends, where he assured Rachel that other girlfriends would be joining. Alas, Rachel was the only female to embark on the Western adventure, but the Bozemen and Bozewoman made forever memories that made Blake and Rachel’s relationship even stronger.
Then followed 2.5 years of long-distance Frontier flights back and forth from DC to Denver, which allowed Blake and Rachel to grow independently and together in their respective cities. Over time, the beauty and benefits to Colorado life convinced Rachel to move to Denver in April 2023.
After meticulous planning, PSYOPS, and encrypted communications, Blake got down on one knee in the mountains of North Georgia, where they celebrated the engagement all weekend with friends and family who surprised Rachel! They continue to build a life in Denver and cannot wait to celebrate their next chapter of marriage with loved ones in such a special place!
